Being born and raised in Hawaii, I grew up surrounded by a culture that has a strong sense of family and community. The days when I would spend the weekend surfing and fishing with my family, just to come home to laugh with friends and neighbors over karaoke and fresh fish, are memories I hold close to my heart. However, we could not have predicted what would soon happen in my freshman year of high school. My dad was diagnosed with dementia, which devastated my family.
Soon after he lost the ability to feed and care for himself. We took care of him by being his hands and feet. Without any type of life insurance, long term care, or investments it placed an abundance of stress on my mother emotionally, financially, and physically. Without a joint income in my family it made it very difficult to live in Hawaii. And I began to wonder what we could have done better?
After high school, I began working at the Four Seasons hotel. I enjoyed serving guests in restaurants and took great pleasure in making people feel welcomed, happy, and valued. Although I greatly enjoyed serving a memorable meal, I lacked fulfillment in my career. I wanted to help people more than just providing a great meal.
Taking a step back I discovered a passion to help people with their finances, because of what my family has and is currently going through. If I knew what I know now, we have prepared better for the inevitable parts of life. In life, there are many things that are unplanned and my goal is to help people plan and prepare financially for life’s unique turns.
In the financial service industry, we have the privilege to help people prepare for their next season of life, from family protection, retirement, college, estate planning and much more. My goal is to make sure people are not only aware but are also prepared for whatever life brings-- and ultimately serve you with integrity and with your best interest at heart.
